Redskins Back in Action Vs. Rams

As you can see, I was way too pissed off about the Redskins loss to Dallas on Monday that I didn't even bother to recap it. That's what happens when we lose to Dallas. I get angry.
Fortunately for you all, I'm back to preview this week's game in St. Louis against the 0-3 Rams.

Redskins (2-1) at Rams (0-3)
Sunday, 1 p.m., Edward Jones Dome
TV: Fox
Announcers: Chris Myers (play by play), Tim Ryan (analysis)
Line: Redskins by 2
Projected Uniforms: Redkins-burgundy helmets, white jerseys, burgundy pants. Rams-blue helmets, blue jerseys, white pants
Breakdown: The Redskins probably should have won on Monday. They surely outplayed the Cowgirls. You would think that the team that didn't give up a touchdown would win, but no. The Redskins got a touchdown and three field goals-16 points. The Cowgirls got six field goals-18 points.
For this week to not suck as much and for the Redskins to get a victory, the running game needs to pick up. Tim Hightower has been decent, but has yet to have that true breakout game that cements him as a top running back in the NFL. He's still definitely the first-stringer, although rookie Roy Helu has been getting consistent carries as well. Hightower knows this Rams defense well, having spent the first three seasons of his career with NFC West rival Arizona. St. Louis is ranked dead last in the NFL in rush defense, so we could have a field day for the two H's. The rams are much better defending through the air (19th out of 32 teams), so I think this one will have to be won on the ground if the Redskins want to come home happy.
On the other side of the ball, the Rams offense has looked downright putrid this season, scoring only seven points against Baltimore last week. Against a Redskins team that didn't allow a touchdown last game, they could be in for tough sledding again. Star running back Steven Jackson has battled an early-season injury and has only 76 yards on the season, but he should be a go for this game. The Rams also picked up Cadillac Williams in the offseason, and he's proved himself a viable option too. Many thought that Sam Bradford would follow up a solid rookie year with a breakout second season, but he's been blah this year, going just 55 for 108 with two touchdowns and an interception this year. A relatively inexperienced receiving corps has contributed to that, and they go up against a Redskins secondary that now has a healthy LaRon Landry. Also, former Ram Oshiomogho Atogwe will make his return to his old stomping ground, as he signed a 5-year deal with Washington in free agency, giving the Redskins one of the best safety tandems in the NFL. There's no doubt he knows Bradford's tendencies better than anyone on this defense, and that may play to Washington's advantage.
Prediction: Despite last week's blip on the radar, the Redskins should get by going into their off week. St. Louis is not Dallas. It won't be a cake walk, but I like the Skins here. 24-14, Washington.
